PUSD Pathways students will participate later this month in a one-week internship for the SunPower Solar Energy Academy.
The internship will take place at Porterville High School as students will learn about renewable energy, installation of solar panels, benefits of solar systems, electrical wiring, and safety procedures. Students will obtain the skills to analyze the electricity use age of a residential home and determine the number of solar panels needed to offset the utility expense to efficiently run a residential home.
The program will conclude with students doing a team presentation to business professionals to explain and defend what they learned during their internship.
