STRATHMORE, Calif. --- Porterville Unified School District’s (PUSD) Harmony Magnet Academy (HMA) has been rated the No. 1 public high school in Tulare County, according to 2020 ratings released by Niche (niche.com). Niche ranked HMA in the top 10 percent of charter high schools in California (No. 34 out of 395 charter high schools) and top three percent for best public high school teachers in California (No. 40 out of 1,761 high schools).

“It is always nice to be recognized for the work that parents, students, teachers, and staff do.” HMA Principal Jeff Brown said. “I am convinced that the culture of a school is a manifestation of the people who make up the community. HMA students are at the center of PUSD's commitment to the college and career program.”

Built in 2008, HMA is a wall-to-wall school for two of PUSD’s Pathway programs: the Academy of Engineering (AOE) and Academy of Performing Arts (APA). AOE earned the Sanford I. Weill Academy of Excellence Award in 2016 as the top NAF Pathway academy in the nation.

The school was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2017 by the U.S. Department of Education.
