Computer Operations & Development Education (CODE)


Beginning in the fall of 2017, the DDC Pathway at Granite Hills High School will be transitioning to a new name, CODE (Computer Operations & Development Education), with the focus of the program shifting to coding, cybersecurity and computer application technology. Current 9th grade and future GHHS students will follow the CODE path through the Project Lead The Way curriculum.

CODE Program of Study includes College Prep Courses and the following courses:  

  • Creative Computing: Building with Blocks
  • Computing and Society: Transitions to Text
  • Web Development: Solving with Syntax
  • Computing with a Purpose
  • Algorithms, Graphics, and Graphical User Interfaces
  • The Internet
  • Raining Reigning Data
  • Intelligent Behavior
  • Annual trip to Bakersfield Condors "Field Trip" Day
  • Field Trip to BitWise/GeekWise in Fresno & Fresno State tour
  • Field Trip to Qualcomm in San Diego & CSUSD

Digital Design & Communications (DDC)

In the Academy of Digital Design & Communications at Granite Hills High School, students gain real world application in the area of mass communication and journalism as they learn a variety of media concepts in the realm of technology. This academy is no longer accepting new applicants, current 10th-12th graders will continue to follow the DDC path as the 9th graders begin the new Computer Operations & Development Education (CODE) pathway.

DDC Program of Study includes College Prep Courses and the following courses from the National Academy Foundation (NAF):  

  • NAF Digital Video
  • NAF Web Design
  • NAF Graphic Design
  • Field trip to Hollywood Studio (Warner Brothers or Paramount) & nearby Digital Media Colleges
  • Annual Trip to Bakersfield Condors "Field Trip" Day
  • Guest speaker Kristi McCracken (Porterville Recorder)
  • Guest speaker alumni Cheppo Hernandez, graduate of CSUN in video editing
  • Guest speaker Beto Duran, reporter for LA Lakers
  • Field Trip to Qualcomm in San Diego & CSUSD 
  • Sophomore Mentors Conference (PUSD)
